ALAH Jr. High Girls Track and Field Host Triangular Meet with Arcola and Decatur Unity Christian

In the ALAH jr. high girls’ track and field triangular on Monday, April 7, the team places were identical for seventh and eighth grade. Arcola won both divisions, with ALAH coming in second and Decatur Unity Christian finishing in third.

For the eighth grade Knights, Gwen Herring was a double event winner taking first in the 800 meters with a time of 3:14.2 and 1600 at 6:52.9. Macee Boddy won the 200 meters in 30.5 and Zoey Mendoza won the high jump at 4’ 6”. These three girls plus seventh grader Kyndall Crist combined to win the eighth grade 4 X 4 relay with a time of 5:15.9.

Crist won the seventh grade 400 meters in a PR of 1:17.4. Other individual winners for the seventh grade were Chloe Lawson in the high jump with a PR jump of 3’ 8” and Brianda Calvillo took first in the 1600 meter run with a PR of 7:03.8. Calvillo along with Kylan Hall, Natalie Peralta, and Lawson ran the 4 X 4 relay to a first place finish with a time of 6”07.4.

Coming up next for the ALAH jr. high track and field teams is their annual ALAH JH Invite. This meet has been in existence since 2002 and features some of the area’s best jr. high track and field teams. The 2025 edition will be on Saturday, April 19 with the Knights hosting ten schools. Meet start time is 10 a.m.
