CGB Bulldogs Track and Field in 5 Team Meet at Tuscola, 8th Grade Girls Win!

The Cerro Gordo Bement Bulldogs track and field teams competed in a five team meet at Tuscola East Prairie on Tuesday, April 22. Other teams in the meet were Oakland Lake Crest, Tolono Unity, and Arcola. The eighth grade girls won their division with 130 points over second place Tuscola who scored 64. The seventh grade girls were fifth while both boys teams finished in fourth.
Winning events at the meet for the seventh grade boys were Griffin Durbin, 800 meters, in 2:30.0; Korbyn Corum, shot put, at 31’ 7.5”, PR; and Josh Callaway with a PR of 4’ 6” in the pole vault. For the eighth grade boys, Konner Demko won two events, the 100 meter dash with a PR time of 12.69 and the 200 in 26.92 and Clark Foss won the pole vault with a PR of 5’ 0”. Seventh grader Maddy Willard was first in the seventh grade girls pole vault with a PR of 8’ 0”.
The eighth grade girls had a fantastic showing, earning ten firsts out of the thirteen events in the meet. Sophia Ferguson had two individual wins, the 100 in 13.97 and the 200 in a PR of 29.21. Another double winner was Aubrey Ferguson, 400 meters in 1:07.23 and the 800 in a PR of 2:42.48. Other individual winners were Sarah Hill, 1600, 5:56.82, PR; Maggie Petty, shot put, 25’ 1”, PR; and Avery Stoerger, high jump, 4” 11”, PR. The girls swept all three relays in the meet. They were the 4 X 1, Lauren Hill, Brynnan Stinson-Sheets, Aubrey Ferguson, Darby Walther in 55.79; the 4 X 2 with Sophia Ferguson, Maci Mills, Stoerger, and Petty running 2:01.65; and the 4 X 4 relay of Sophia Ferguson, Sarah Hill, Mills and Petty with a time of 4:57.21.
