ALAH volleyball remains undefeated in Lincoln Prairie Conference, 5-0
The ALAH varsity volleyball team celebrates a point in the home match with the Villa Grove Blue Devils last Thursday. Starting with libero Karaline Vanausdoll and around the circle, Leighton Poulos (17), McKenna Blaudow (22), Bella Romine (13), Annabelle Vanausdoll (8), and Morgan Casteel (7). The varsity completed the sweep on the evening winning both of their games 25-10. The freshmen and junior varsity also won their matches in two games.

MAHOMET – Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond’s volleyball team improved to 5-0 in the Lincoln Prairie Conference with a 25-10, 25-10 win over Villa Grove last Thursday. On September 29 the Knights dropped a non-conference match to Monticello in three grueling sets, 27-25, 23-25, 27-25.
Saturday ALAH competed in the Mahomet-Seymour tournament and went 1-4 beating Class 3A Bloomington 25-16, 25-21. Although they lost the next four in two sets, the first set in three of the sets could have gone either way. The Knights fell to fellow LPC foe, Unity Christian 27-25, 25-20 to Class 2A Rochester 26-24, 25-19; to Class 2A Effingham St. Anthony 25-15, 25-18; and to Class 3A Geneseo 26-24, 25-20.
Bella Romine made the all tournament team. The sophomore finished with 13 kills, 4 blocks, and 2 digs.
In the tournament leading the way in kills for ALAH was McKenna Blaudow with 22, while Karlanie Vanausdoll was tops in aces with 10. Addison Dixon had 4.5 blocks to lead ALAH, while tops in digs was Annabelle Vanausdoll with 19 digs and led in assists with 41.
Blaudow had a team high seven kills against Villa Grove, while Morgan Casteel had 12 assists. Leading the way in digs and aces were Karaline Vanaudoll (5) and Casteel (2) while Summer Melton had one block.
ALAH, 15-7, entered play in the LPC tournament as the No. 2 seed and played the winner of the No 7 seeded team, Villa Grove, against the No. 10 seeded team Okaw Valley at Oakland. If the Knights won they played in the semifinals on Tuesday. The consolation championship, third place and championship game are set for Thursday starting at 5 p.m. at Kansas. Unity Christian is the top-seeded team and is 19-6 and the defending champions.
