Cerro Gordo/Bement girls top Arcola on Senior Night

CERRO GORDO – It was Senior Night at Cerro Gordo as the seniors and their parents were honored prior to the varsity game against Arcola. Everyone went home happy as the Broncos won 39-16 in a Lincoln Prairie Conference game last Thursday. The Broncos,who snapped a three-game winning streak by the Lady Riders, dropped a 44-24 non-conference game to Arthur Christian and had no trouble in beating Blue Ridge/DeLand-Weldon 45-7 on February 2.
The Broncos improved to 10-18 and played at Argenta-Oreana Monday in a LPC game. They end the regular season Thursday at Clinton in a non-conference contest.

Cerro Gordo/Bemnet outscored Arcola in every quarter en route to the 23-point win. The Broncos forced Arcola into 24 turnovers, while having 10 of its own. CGB led just 10-5 when they outscored the Lady Riders 8-0 to take a commanding 18-5 lead at the half.
Rylan Petty led Cerro Gordo in scoring with 13 points and six rebounds. She was 4-of-7 from the field.

The Broncos led 10-8 after the first quarter, but fell behind 23-15 at the half. Arthur Christian led 30-20 heading into the final period, where CGB was outscored 14-4.
Maggie Petty led the Broncos with 16 points and five rebounds. CGB was 10-of-31 from the field in the loss.
February 2:

at Farmer City
The game was tied at two when the Broncos went on a 21 -0 run to lead 23-2. CGB led 9-2 after one quarter, but dominated the second quarter outsourcing the Knights 20-2 for a 29-4 halftime lead.
The Broncos had three players finish in double digits in the 38-point victory,
CGB had 26 steals and forced the Knights into 37 turnovers. Maggie Petty had six steals and a team-high 12 points, while Rylan Petty and Sophia Ferguson had 10 points each.
Blue Ridge fell to 3-21.
