Callaway places first in 400 and helps 4×800 win, while Fuson wins 1,600 for CGB track

DOWNS – Last Thursday in the Small school Invitational at Tri-Valley High School in Downs, Cerro Gordo/Bement’s Madisen Callaway, a sophomore, won the 400 with a time of 1:02.8, which was nearly a second faster than second place Leah Kennett of Tremont. She also helped the 4×800 team which also included junior Cassie Block, freshman Sarah Hill and freshman Aubrey Ferguson. Their time was 11:02.3, 27.1 seconds faster than second place Tri-Valley.

As a team the Broncos finished fourth in the nine team meet won by the host school with 192 points. CGB had 47 points.

On the boys side CGB senior Will Fuson won the 1,600 with a second-best time of 4:42.6, which was 0.7 faster than second place Ryan Garneau of Tri-Valley.

As a team the Broncos were third with 59 points, in the 10-team meet won by Ridgeview with 49 points.
