ALAH Junior High Girls Track and Field Close Home Season with Tuscola

In the eighth grade long jump competition, ALAH’s Bentley Parsons leaps into the long jump pit at the last home jr. high meet of the season with Tuscola on April 23. This was Bentley’s first long jump competition and she took second place with a jump of 12’ 7.5”. Bentley also won the 200 meters with a time of 29.89 and ran a leg on the both of the eighth grade winning 4 X 1 and 4 X 4 relays .

The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond jr. high girls’ track and field team closed their 2026 home season in a dual meet with the Tuscola East Prairie Hornets on Thursday, April 23. The Hornets won both the seventh and eighth grade divisions in the competition.

While not capturing the team titles, both the seventh and eighth grade girls had some very good performances.

The seventh grade Knights won three events, Sofia Williams won the 800 meters at 3:02.9; Trinity Schrock took first in the shot put with a 25’ 8” toss; and Lilah Ellis was first in the long jump with a PR leap of 13’ 1”. As the season goes along, PRs become tougher to achieve but the seventh grade girls had seven in the meet on Thursday.

The eighth grade girls were only entered in seven events but they placed in all seven and took first place in all but one of those. First place finishers were Bentley Parsons in the 200 meters at 29.89; Halle Oye in the 100 meter hurdles in 21.49; Jennifer Plank was a double winner, taking the shot put with a PR toss of 25’ 5” and the discus with a throw of 57’ 11” and Mariah Pratt won the long jump with a PR leap of 15’. Two eighth grade relays scored first place points, the 4 X 100 meter of Kyndall Crist, Maranda and Mariah Pratt, and Bentley Parsons ran a time of 54.7 and the 4 X 400 meter relay with Parsons, the Pratts, and Halle Oye ran 4:49.03 to finish in first place.

Bentley Parsons accounted for the last points for the eighth grade Knights with a second place finish in the long jump in her first time in the event setting her PR at 12’ 7.5”. Her teammate, Maranda Pratt just missed scoring in that event with a 12’ 5” jump.

Discus: Addison Cazel, 2nd, 67’ 5”, PR; Trinity Schrock, 3rd, 62’ 8”; Iris Binion 41’ 9”; Ivy Binion 33’ 2”

Long Jump: Jaelynn Sanchez 12’ 0”, PR
