ARTHUR, Ill. — Moultrie‑Douglas 4‑H is gearing up to welcome young explorers to Cloverbud AgVenture Camp, a lively, hands‑on learning event designed especially for children ages 5–8.
The camp will take place Tuesday, June 23 from 1–4 p.m. at the Arthur United Methodist Church, offering an afternoon packed with discovery, creativity, and farm‑themed fun. The camp will be led by Moultrie-Douglas Emerging Leaders 4-H Club members and 4-H staff, with the Illinois Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom curriculum being utilized.
The AgVenture Camp introduces youth to the exciting world of agriculture through movement‑based games, science activities, and interactive stations led by caring adults and teen 4‑H volunteers. Each station is designed to spark curiosity and help youth connect with nature in meaningful, age‑appropriate ways.
Campers will rotate through a variety of themed experiences, including:
• Pollinator Power — Kids learn why pollinators matter, explore butterfly life cycles, and play matching games.
• Seeds & Growing Fun — Youth dissect beans, discover what plants need to grow, and make seed bombs to take home.
• Soil & Water Discovery — Campers watch water move through soil layers and build edible “soil cups” complete with gummy worms.
• All About Worms — Children meet live worms, listen to Diary of a Worm, and learn how worms help keep soil healthy.
• Farm Animal Adventures — Youth explore poultry and dairy farming through stories, stickers, movement games, and even make ice cream in a bag.
Participants will also take home a collection of creative projects, including a farm‑animal flip book and crafts made throughout the afternoon. There is a small fee to participate, but this fee can also be covered if this a barrier to participation.
