ARCOLA – In the inaugural year of the Arcola Leadership Group, which is made up of freshmen and sophomores that were identified by district coaches as potential leaders. The members from Arcola are Olivia Gisinger, Stevee Griffith, Anahi Campos, Briseida Condarco, Kaden Hohlbauch, Jazy Moreno, Ke’din Smith, Averi Kutz, Conner Truex, Mitchell Murphy, Blain Helmuth, Rory Drake and Jayden Smith.
“Coach (Sergio) Medina and I had the pleasure of leading this group,”said Greg Gisinger, Arcola girls basketball and golf coach. “We went through the book ‘Legacy’ by James Kerr. The main takeaways from this group were three words: humility, character and excellence. Using the ‘Sweep the Sheds” (hence the broom in the photo) mantra we were able to help these kids that a leader takes pride in doing small things. Doing the work that no one wants to do, and many other life lessons that we were able to cover through the school year. “
This year’s members nominated next year’s group.
