TUSCOLA- With the closure of Rise Behavioral Health and Wellness after nearly 50 years of serving the Douglas County community, the Douglas County Health Department has begun overseeing mental health treatment and services.
Two Health Department employees, Cheyenne Holt and Anna Strohl, discussed the changes that were being made to accommodate these new services.
“We’ve already started collecting a waitlist for patients,” Strohl said. The Health Department has been working with Rise to transition their clients to services at the Health Department. The office space has undergone physical changes, too.
“We’ve transferred some employees to remote work and we are also holding services in Arthur and Villa Grove,” Holt said. The Health Department has also hired an additional nurse practitioner to conduct physicals and mental health screenings. The agency is running off of grant funding to provide these services, according to Holt and Strohl.
