Tuscola’s Whitson, 4×200 relays, compete in New Balance track Nationals

FRANKLIN FIELD, PA – Five Tuscola boys track members participated in the prestigious New Balance Nationals at the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field, one of the oldest college stadiums in the United States and one that has been in operation since 1895.
Freshmen Beau Whitson, who will be a sophomore in the 2026-27 school year, competed in both the freshmen shot put and discus, while the 4×200 team of Sawyer Beachy, Calvin Cook, Kamden Flenner and Bradlee Washington were also in the event that took place June 18-21.
The 4×200 team finished 41st with a time of 1:30.93. Beachy will be a junior, while Washington will be a senior. Flenner and Cook graduated in May. The four ran a season best 1:28.21 in the 2026 season.
Whitson finished in the top 26 in both of his events. He placed 20th in the shot put with a heave of 43-10 and was 26th in the discus with a toss of 136-7.
Whitson’s best in the shot put was 45-1, and his best in the discus was 152-10.
The meet is open to athletes currently enrolled in grades six through 12 (as of May), with separate divisions for championship, freshmen and middle school.
