SULLIVAN – The all Lincoln Prairie Conference softball team has been released and Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond’s Sophie Monts, a junior, was a unanimous first team selection. Monts helped the Knights to an 11-17 overall record and a 5-4 conference mark. They finished in fifth place in the conference. She led the team in nearly every category including a .603 batting average, only three strikeouts, and stolen bases with 16.
Also earning first team status was Villa Grove pitcher Piper Kiser, a senior and classmate Izzy Dodd. The two helped the Lady Blue Devils to a 20-14 Overall record and an 8-1 conference record, good for second place. Kiser had a 3.44 earned run average. She pitched 138 ⅓ innings and allowed 68 earned runs with 53 walks and 131 strikeouts. Opponents batted .264 against her. Dodd led the team in batting at .475 with six triples and five sacrifices.
Arcola, who finished 4-22 overall, had two players on the first team in pitcher Anahi Cooper, a senior and classmate Maddie Pilkington. Cooper pitched 130 ⅓ innings and was in all 26 games. She was 4-19 with an earned run average of 6.39. She allowed 119 earned runs with 125 strikeouts, while Pilkington led the team in batting at .439 with 36 hits, including 29 singles and 6 doubles and stole 13 bases.. The Lady Riders finished 2-6 In the conference, good for eighth place.
On the second team for the Knights was freshman Kyndrie Carter, a pitcher. Also on the second team were Annabelle Vanausdoll, a sophomore and London Dugan, a junior.
Villa Grove’s Hayden Thomas, a senior, was also on the second team.
Named to the 12-member honorable mention team were ALAH’s Karaline Vanausdoll, Reece Oye and Anna Rawlings, making the Knights total on the first, second or honorable mention team seven. Arcola’s Anailia Cooper received honorable mention status for a total of three players on the lists, while Villa Grove’s Areigha Hauversburk was also named honorable mention all-LPC, giving the Lady Blue Devils a total of four.
Overall there are a total of 11 on the first team, 11 on the second team and 12 received honorable mention for a total of 34 players in the 10 team conference. There are 12 seniors, 10 juniors, 7 sophomores and 5 freshmen overall.
Sullivan won the LPC, going 9-0, and had five players selected overall.
