Girls State Attendees Bowles and Appleby Guests of American Legion Auxiliary

GIRLS STATE ATTENDEES. Welcoming Girls State attendees Regann Bowles and Molly Appleby were left Jessie Yoder, President of the Atwood Auxiliary, and Ken Caraway, Commander of the local American Legion.

Regann Bowles and Molly Appleby were guests of the Atwood American Legion Auxiliary on Monday, July 25, to report on their week at Illini Girls State.

Other guests were Jami Bowles, mother of Regann, Ken Caraway, Atwood American Legion Commander and Howard Kamm, Legion member. Girls State was held June 19-25 and the girls had a great time and learned a lot.

The American Legion Auxiliary’s marquee Girls State program, first presented in 1937, is one of the most respected and coveted experiential learning programs presented in the United States.

The program epitomizes the auxiliary’s mission to honor those who have brought us our freedom through our enduring commitment to develop young women as future leaders grounded in patriotism and Americanism.
