Elston returns from European deployment
By Tony Hooker
Like many from his generation, the events of 9/11 had a profound impact on Christ Elston.
So much so, in fact, that it led to his eventual decision to join the US Navy in 2007, three years after he graduated from Villa Grove High School.
What is different in Chris’s case, however, is the fact that he has stayed a part of the USN since that time, attaining the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, which is the highest enlisted rank one can attain, other than Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, which only one person can attain at a time.
