Tuscola City Council – Approve holiday bonuses for staff

The Tuscola City Council on Monday voted to give full-time employees and firefighters a $125 holiday bonus.

The Council took no action regarding its property tax levy estimate for the next fiscal year. Mayor Dan Kleiss explained that if the Council were to raise its levy by 5 percent or more, a truth-in-taxation hearing would be triggered. Because of the deadlines that would have to be met for a hearing and public notice, he asked whether any Council members wanted to raise the levy more than 5 percent. No one responded.
