Arcola boys fall in LPC tourney title game

By Mike Monahan

ARTHUR – The fourth annual Lincoln Prairie Conference Tournament (no tournament due to COVID-19 in 2020-21) featured 11 lead changes and neither Arcola or Okaw Valley led by more than seven. The Purple Riders, the top-seeded team, battled the third seeded Okaw Valley Timberwolves last Friday at Arthur and fans were treated to a hard-fought, defensive battle. Okaw Valley scored the last six points of the game in the final 1:46 to win 50-45. It was Okaw Valley’s first tournament title since winning the Little Okaw Valley Conference Tournament in 2006 over Tuscola. It was the Timberwolves only other tournament title since joining the LOVC in 2002.
