Villa Grove girl is Jr. Miss America

Bekka Bloom is crowned Jr. Miss America in Las Vegas.

For Villa Grove’s Bekka Bloom, pageants have become a way of life.

Perhaps more importantly, they’ve also become a means to an end. Bloom, 15, was recently named Junior Miss of America at a pageant in Las Vegas and seems almost as excited about the scholarships that come with the title as she is about the title itself. You see, the future dermatologist knows that there is a long academic road ahead of her, and any assistance she can get is appreciated.
