ARTHUR – The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond girls’ basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak last Friday 49-40.
In the Knight’s Holiday Classic Saturday ALAH was on the wrong end of a 35-26 game to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and also fell to fellow Lincoln Prairie Conference foe, Heritage 43-32.
The Knights lost to Heritage also on Dec. 12 50-38, also at Arthur.
ALAH was 4-10 through Saturday.
Earlier in the week the Knights dropped a 46-27 non-conference game to Monticello and a LPC contest to Sullivan, 51-43. The Lady Redskins are the No. 16 team in the latest Associated Press Class 1A rankings.
Monticello 46, ALAH 27
ALAH trailed just 18-12 after the opening quarter and only 26-18 at the half, but could not get any closer in the 19 point loss.
Sophia Monts led the Knights with eight points. Addison Yeakel had a team-high eight rebounds. ALAH was 11-of-33 (.333) from the field, including 1-of-10 from three-point land. The Knights had 20 turnovers compared to 15 for the Sages.
Sullivan 51, ALAH 43
It was close the entire way, including at half, where Sullivan led a 23-22 lead. The Lady Redskins had a three-point lead going into the fourth and they won it by eight.
Monts was 4-of-10 from beyond the three-point line and 6-of-16 overall with a team-high 16 points, while Yeakel pulled down 11 of the team’s 33 rebounds and Morgan Casteel had four assists.
The Knights had 20 turnovers and were 16-of-48 (333) from the field.
