Two members of ALAH football team earn all-area Herald & Review honors

DECATUR – The annual Decatur Herald & Review All-Area football team was released recently and earned first team status for the Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Knights They were defensive lineman Jacob Tighe and defensive back Cash Hale. A total of 26 players were on the first team.
In addition Arcola’s Jayden Henson-Stice was named to the first team as a defensive back.
Named to the second team were running back Easton Frederick, offensive lineman Colin Smith and defensive back Payton Warriors. A total of 25 were on the second team, including Braden Phillips, a receiver for the Purple Riders, who went 4-5 under coach Steve Snider.
For Tuscola, coached by Andy Romine, four players were on the second team. They are receiver James Parker, Offensive lineman Caiden Russo; Keller Beachy, kicker; and defensive back Jayden Connor. The Warriors finished 5-5 losing to Cumberland in the Class 1A playoffs 28-6. Tuscola was 5-3 in their first season of competing in the Heart of Illinois small school division, good for fourth place in the nine team conference. Dylan Graves was honorable mention for Tuscola.
The Knights, coached by Ryan Jefferson, went 9-2 overall and 8-1 in the Lincoln Prairie Conference. ALAH beat North Mac 54-32 in the Class 2A playoffs and then lost to Quincy Notre Dame 34-7.
Also earning honorable mention status for ALAH were Trey Strode, Brayden Leech, Kamden Morfey and Ryan Appleby along with Mackenley Bowles. They were five of the 17 earning honorable mention.
A total of 10 ALAH players were on the first, second or honorable mention teams.
