First Mid Insurance Group (FMIG) is committed to keeping their valued customers informed about important changes in the health insurance landscape. On February 25, 2025, Health Alliance, based in Champaign, announced that effective January 1, 2026, they will be discontinuing all lines of business except for Medicare Advantage (see page 6).
FMIG works with a diverse range of health insurance providers, including some of the largest and best-capitalized insurance companies in the nation. For customers with individual health plans through Health Alliance, FMIG will proactively review 2026 coverage during the CMS open enrollment period, which runs from November 1 – December 15, 2025. FMIG strongly encourages all customers with individual health plans in 2025 to contact them during open enrollment for assistance in exploring all available options and selecting the best plan for their 2026 coverage.
The announcement by Health Alliance also impacts group health insurance customers. FMIG will be reaching out to each group to discuss strategy and potentially obtain alternative quotes from other carriers to meet their needs.
