ARCOLA – Maddie Pikington and Ema Simpson drove in four runs each and Arcola’s softball team scored 11 runs in the second inning to lead Heritage Thursday 15-1. The Lady Riders went on to win the Lincoln Prairie Conference game 22-7. The 22 runs is the most Arcola has scored this season. The Lady Riders are 4-8 overall and 1-1 in the LPC prior to Monday’s game at Okaw Valley.
Arcola lost a non-conference game to Martinsville 10-6 Friday. The Lady Bluestreaks scored five runs in the seventh and led 10-0 before the Lady Riders scored all six runs in their half of the seventh. Kacie Sisk hit a two-run homer in the inning and was 1-for-4, while Ava Simpson was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs in the setback.

Heritage led 1-0 before Arcola scored four in their half of the first to take the lead for good, 4-1. Arcola broke open the game by sending 16 to the plate. Bri Condarco and Ava Simpson walked to start the inning and Maddie Pilkington drove them in with a triple to left. She scored on a sacrifice fly by Ema Simpson. Sisk reached on an error Kaydence Nichols walked. Sisk stole home and Nichols moved to second and then stole third. With two outs and an 8-1 lead Arcola tacked on more as Jolena King was hit by a pitch as was Bri Condarco. Nichols scored, King was on third and Condarco on second when Pikington drove in a run with a single and Ema Simpson’s double plated her sister, Ava Simpson, and Pilkikngton. The final run of the inning scored on a triple by Sisk as Ema Simpson scored for a 14-run lead.
Sisk pitched three and two-thirds innings and allowed 2 hits, 2 earned runs with seven strikeouts and three walks.
