Stephanie Garza, Crystal Ramirez, Caiden Helmuth, and Gael Elizondo were named the Arcola Rotary’s Seniors of the Month for April at their last meeting.
Stephanie Anahi Garza is the daughter of Juan and Leticia Garza. She has three brothers, Juan, Homero, and Michael. She has lived in Arcola for 17 years.
She is the News-Gazette High School Confidential reporter as well as a member of National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. She has achieved straight As for the past three years as well as volunteers with pre-kindergarten twice a week. She is also a member of Spanish Club and American Field Service.
Her favorite subjects are science, anatomy, and zoology and her parents are her inspiration. She plans to attend Eastern Illinois University to get her bachelor’s in nursing.
Crystal Lynn Ramirez is the daughter of Debbie Vargas. She has three siblings, Audrina, Zuri, and Brooks. She has lived in Arcola for 18 years.
She has participated in basketball for four years, captaining the team for one, track for four years, captaining the team for one, NHS, Principal Advisory Committee, and Future Farmers of America.
Her favorite subject is creative writing, and her mom is her role model. She plans to attend the University of Missouri and is undecided on her major.
Caiden Helmuth is the son of Mike and Mariann Helmuth. He has three siblings, Blain, Quinten, and Lindsey. He has lived in Arcola for 18 years.
He has participated in FFA for four years, is the current FFA president, football for three years, and golf for one year.
His favorite subject is agriculture, and his parents are his inspiration. He plans on obtaining his CDL post-graduation so he can drive semis for his family’s trucking company and work on his family farm.
Gael Elizondo Alanis is the son of Veronica and Alvaro Elizondo. He has one sibling, Ramses, and has lived in Arcola for 11 years.
He has played football for four years, track for two years, baseball for one year and participated in FFA for two years, AFS for two years, Spanish Club for two years, and he does “numerous” community service projects.
His favorite subject is PE and his parents are his biggest inspiration. After graduation, he will be attending Monmouth College to play football and get a degree to teach physical education.
