The Tuscola track and field teams split up this week, with the boys travelling to Monticello while the girls travelled to Tolono Unity for their respective invitationals.
Kam Sweetnam and Sawyer Woodard highlighted the field events for the Warriors. The former placed second in long jump (45.21m [21’ 9.5”]) and first in triple jump (13.51m [44’ 4”]), both marks being personal bests.
Woodard marked a personal best 15.94m (52’ 3.5”) in the shot and placed second in the discus with a 45.21m (148’ 4”) hurl, respectively.
Trey Waldrop finished sixth with a 14.59m (47’ 10.5”) and Brayden Weaver finished seventh with a 14.58 (47’ 10.5”) in the shot, with Weaver finishing just one centimeter behind his teammate.
Over in the running events, David Hornaday placed in the top five of both the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles, finishing fourth (15.68 personal best) and first (41.97) in those events.
In the 1600m, Blake McLeese finished eighth with a time of 4:45.47.
The Warriors placed in each relay that they competed, with the quad of Dylan Graves, Carter Simpson, Kam Flenner, and Kade Wilcox finishing fourth in the 4x100m with a 45.26. The same quad placed first in the 4x200m relay with a personal best time of 1:32.75.
Jaxsyn Taylor, Michael Picazo, Calvin Cook, and Boyd Brewer placed seventh in the 4x400m with a personal best 3:54.53 while Brewer, McLeese, James Jonas, and Xander Neamtu finished fifth in the 4x800m with a 9:07.14 personal best to round out the Tuscola scoring.
It was once again the Lia Patterson show in Tolono as she won the 100m (12.52), 100m hurdles (15.23), and 300m hurdles (46.82) in a dominant showing.
In the 3200m run, Kate Foltz won with an 11:40.29 while Celeste Rebollo finished sixth with a 15:21.87, respectively.
Over to the relays, the quad of Kenna Clodfelder, Rylie Vanausdoll, Reese Davis, and Chloe Bowden finished fourth in the 4x100m (53.56) and second in the 4x200m (1:54.64), both personal bests for the squad.
Davis, Makayela Sexson, Grace Walker, and Bowden teamed up for the 4x400m, running 4:47.30, good enough for sixth while Sami Walker, Bailey Ritter, Hannah Carswell, and Bella Dueker finished eighth in the 4x800m with a 12:59.95, both races also being personal bests.
Olivia Wallace won the discus with a personal best 38.81m (127’ 4”) launch and Kali Gilpin finished third in the high jump with a personal best 1.47m (4’ 9.75”) leap.
Vanausdoll and Clodfelder rounded out the Tuscola scoring with second (4.87m [15’ 11.75”]) and fourth (4.67m [15’ 3.75”]) place finishes.
