ARTHUR – The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond softball team went 2-2 during the week picking up two Lincoln Prairie Conference wins by downing Tri-County 21-4 in a game called after five innings due to the 10-run rule and topped Blue Ridge 8-2. The Knights also fell to St. Joseph-Ogden 15-1 in six innings and were defeated by Paris 10-2.
ALAH is 8-12 overall, but 6-1 in conference action, good for second place.
SJO held the Knights to just two hits and both were by Sophie Monts, including a double and the lone run batted in.
The 21 runs against Tri-County was the second most this season. The Knights had 22 hits and scored all of its runs in the first four innings, including nine in the second. Ten of the 13 players that played for ALAH had at least one hit. Multiple hits were by Monts, Mackenzie Condill, Anna Rawlins, London Dugan, Annabelle Vanausdoll, Karaline Vansduoll and Alyna Plank. Four players hit home runs in Karlaine Vanausdoll, Rawlins, Dugan and Monts.
ALAH scored three runs in the first inning and never trailed in the six-run win over Blue Ridge. Monts allowed six hits and two runs with 12 strikeouts and two walks in seven innings and helped herself by going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
In the first Condill doubled to lead off the game and scored on a single by Monts. With one out Rawlins tripled to right, scoring Monts. Rawlins scored on a ground out by Dugan for a 3-0 lead.
Rawlins had a double and triple and ws 4-for-4 from her cleanup spot, while Monts was 2-for-3 and Deel 2-for-4. Monts and Deel drove in one run each.
