Sterling and Rice Crowned Cerro Gordo High School Homecoming Royalty
Cerro Gordo High School celebrated Homecoming last week and the announcement of the king and queen took place at the bonfire held at the school on Thursday evening. The 2025 queen was Samantha Sterling, daughter of Sara and Sean Sterling and king was Hayden Rice, son of Ashley and Justin Rice. The court and their parents were also introduced at that time.
On Friday, the parade stepped off at 1:00 p.m. and was be led by the Colors of American Legion Post #117 and its Auxiliary Unit. The Post has led the Homecoming parades since World War II. They also raise the Colors at each home football game.
This year’s Cerro Gordo High School Homecoming Court members were freshmen Aerabella Gordan, daughter of Jennifer and Josh Gordon, and Clark Foss, son of Michelle and Randall Foss; sophomores Alissa Johnson, daughter of Marie and Christopher Johnson, and Colton Piraino, son of Alyssa and Tony Piraino; juniors Jessa Cross, daughter of Angie and Doug Cross, and Jackson Hentz, son of Rhonda and Kyle Lovin.
2025 senior queen candidates also included Tatum McRae, daughter of Stacey and John McRae and Caydence Brown, daughter of Laurel and Mike Brown. The other two king candidates were Cooper Benson, son of Stacey Benson and the late Tim Benson and Quintin Nevius, son of Tonya and Tony Nevius.
Crown bearers were Presley Born and Bo Peter.
The 2024 Homecoming queen was Mariah Corpus, daughter of Ivonne and Ivan Corpus and king was Brenden Puckett, son of Melanie England and Erick Puckett.
The Homecoming Dance was held Saturday evening and featured the coronation of the Homecoming king and queen.
