OAKLAND – Arcola was eliminated from the Lincoln Prairie Conference tournament Oct. 7. The Lady Riders lost to Heritage 25-7, 25-16.
In the first set Faith Latham served the first six points of the first set and Piper Fields added nine unanswered for a 16-1 lead. Freshman Ryann McComas served the last three for the 18 point win.
Arcola played better in the second set scoring the first two points on serves bv freshman Reece Miller. However, the Hawks, 6-21, took the lead for good on serves by Latham, including an ace for a 6-2 lead. Heritage took a 15-8 as Bree McGarigle had two points.
Arcola fought back to tie the contest at 15 as Ema Simpson served six consecutive points, including a kill by Averi Kutz off a set by Miller. However, Heritage answered with an 8-0 run to take a commanding 23-15 lead. Addison Hopper served seven straight points for the eight point advantage.
Arcola had no aces in the match and five service hours, while the Hawks had four aces and five service errors.
The Lady Riders fell to 1-20 and have lost five straight. Arcola returned to regular season LPC play Tuesday at home against Okaw Valley. Arcola travesl to Farmer City to face Blue Ridge Thursday in another conference match.
