A wide array of ghosts, witches, animals, and more dressed up in unique costumes for the annual Atwood Chamber of Commerce Halloween Fall Festival & Parade on Sunday, October 26, downtown Atwood. The weather cooperated to the fullest bringing out a large crowd.

The first Chili Cook-off was well-received with the following contestants: Harris Companies, Steven Yoder, Jolynn Barbee, Michael Barbee, Derek McWhorter and Nicole Griffen. – Judges were Mark Arnett, Norman Willoughby and Andy Brandenburg. Winners were first-Michael Barbee, second, Jolynn Barbee and third, Steven Yoder.

The American Legion Auxiliary was pleased with the turn out and thank everyone for their support.

Members of the Atwood American Legion led the five groups through the parade. Categories and winners are listed under the pictures in this issue. Prizes in each category included: $20 first place; $10 second place, and $5 third place.

Delicious doughnuts were distributed by Lake Fork United Church of Christ following the parade.

Food from the Ghost Shack, sponsored by the United Church of Atwood, was yummy with walking tacos, hot dogs, chips, cookies and beverages.

The village trick or treat and chamber trunk or treat was a big hit with most people running out of candy. One resident remarked they ran out of trick or treat candy, had to use their “stash” of chocolate candy and finally gave out quarters. She had somewhere around 200-250 kids come to their door. The ghosts and goblins were out in droves that night.

A big thank you to MC for the evening, Village President Bill Fleming. Bill is a man of many talents and is very visible in the community. Parade judges were Sherrie Wolfe, Dale Myers and Miss Tuscola Reese Davis. They definitely had a difficult job. Thanks to all.

The Atwood Chamber enjoys events when the town comes together for an evening of fun and laughter, and it was definitely all around.
