On Wednesday, Dec. 17, Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School held its 10th annual Cookie Walk and recognized 14 seniors that were graduating at the end of the first semester. ALAH Principal Steffanie Seegmiller had this to say, “This is our 10th Cookie Walk. This tradition was started by Mrs. Tish Farris, our former guidance counselor, who is now enjoying retirement. She brought this from her college alma mater, Millikin University.
“The tradition of the Cookie Walk is just a quick way to say good luck in finals. We are in the home stretch. We also want to thank all of the faculty and staff that were able to bring cookies. December is always jam packed and you went the extra mile again.
“Before we dive into the cookies, we would like to take a moment to recognize that today is the last official day of high school (minus exams) for 14 of our seniors.
“There are things worth celebrating and committing to graduating a semester early is worthy. Although our official graduation walk isn’t until May, we thought we should take a few minutes to recognize and wish the best of luck to our seniors who made this commitment.”
Seniors, Audrey Baker, Olivia Binion, Josie Carrillo, Aiden Cazel, Brooklyn Gingerich, Carl Holzinger, Kryssy Hutchins, Brayden Leech, Jackson Lebeter, Taiya Miller, Kori Rich, Jonathan Robinson, and Margret Rohr, were called up and congratulated by the various department chairs.
After the introductions, the graduates and their families were treated to cake. The high school students were called down at this time to take part in the Cookie Walk and visit with their teachers, friends and have a chance to congratulate the graduates.
