Moultrie-Douglas 4-H Launches Esports Clubs with Support from Local Law Enforcement
Douglas County Sheriff Nathan Chaplan, Moultrie-Douglas 4-H Coordinator Rachel Stenger, and Douglas County Deputy Adam Brazzell.
Arthur, IL — The Moultrie-Douglas 4-H program is excited to announce the launch of competitive Esports clubs that will be available to local schools beginning in the second semester of the school year. To kick off this innovative initiative, the program has obtained two gaming console kits—a Nintendo Switch and a PlayStation 5—through the Illinois 4-H Signature Program initiative. This statewide effort is designed to place research-based curriculum in the hands of local educators, fostering hands-on learning experiences for youth.
Douglas County Deputy and DARE programming officer, Adam Brazzell, who is also a certified 4-H leader, will spearhead the effort to bring Esports programming to youth across Douglas County. His leadership will ensure that this new offering combines fun, teamwork, and skill-building in a safe and structured environment.
“We are thrilled to partner with local law enforcement to provide this exciting opportunity for kids,” said Rachel Stenger, Moultrie-Douglas 4-H Coordinator. “Esports is more than gaming—it’s about strategy, communication, and creating a sense of community.”
The addition of Esports programming reflects 4-H’s commitment to evolving with youth interests while maintaining its focus on positive development and education. This partnership demonstrates how community collaboration can open doors to new experiences for local youth.
