Lake Land College is set to increase its tuition and fees rates by 3.25% for the 2026-2027 academic year, pending approval by the board of trustees during the regular March meeting on Monday, March 9.
Under the new rates, in-district tuition will increase by $5 per credit hour, while per-credit hour fees will remain unchanged, bringing the total per-credit hour cost to $159. For an in-district student taking a standard full-time course load of 30 credit hours in the 2026-2027 academic year, the total tuition and fee cost will be $4,770, an increase of $150 over the previous year.
The new tuition rate preserves Lake Land’s status as one of Illinois’ most affordable colleges. Among fellow Illinois community colleges, Lake Land ranked in the lowest 25% in terms of cost for the 2025-2026 school year, when average statewide tuition and fees reached $4,943. Meanwhile, the average 2025-2026 tuition for Illinois public universities was $16,264.50, making Lake Land a top destination for students interested in a high-quality education at a fraction of a university price.
The new tuition rate will take effect with the Summer 2026 semester and continue through the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 terms.
