ARTHUR – The regular season ended for the Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond softball team with two victories, beating Neoga, May 11, 16-1 and won its last Lincoln Prairie Conference game 16-1 over Okaw Valley in a game called after four innings due to the 15-run rule after four innings.
Against Neoga, Laila Sanchez was 3-for-5 with five runs batted in, while London Dugan, Karaline Vanausdoll and Reece Oye all drove in two runs at Neoga in a non-conference game.
Okaw Valley at ALAH, May 12
ALAH trailed 1-0 after the top of the first, but quickly took the lead for good with six runs in their half of the first.
In the inning the Knights took the lead without the benefit of a hit as Anna Rawlins walked on four pitches, Vanasudoll walked on a full-count pitch and Sophie Monts walked on four pitches to load the bases. Rawlins scored on a wild pitch and Kydrie Carter, the winning pitcher, walked on a full-count pitch. Vanausdoll scored on a wild pitch for a 2-1 lead and Dugan was hit by a pitch. Monts scored on a wild pitch, Ella Oye, who was running for Carter, scored on an error and Claire Sass, who was a courtesy runner for Dugan, scored on a wild pitch for a 4-1 advantage before the at-bat ended in a ground out for the first out. Annie Ponder doubled to center and went to third on a wild pitch. With two outs Ava Moody reached on an error as Ponder scored the final run of the inning.
The Knights kept the offense going, scoring three in the second and six in the third for a 15-1 lead after three.
ALAH scored the game-ending run with no outs in the fourth as Jaidyn Edwards singled to left, plating Vanausdoll, who singled on the first pitch of the fourth.
Ponder led the Knights by going 3-for-3 with a double, two stolen bases and two runs batted in. Sanchez drove in two runs, while Monts was 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI.
Carter did not allow any earned runs in three innings and Monts struck out the side in the fourth.
