ARCOLA- Downtown Arcola saw a burst of excitement and the community coming together Thursday evening for the second “Sip, Sweep and Stroll” event of the summer.
The first event was held in May with the final one of the summer being held on July 22. The event hosts vendors, food trucks and live music. There were other activities such as yard games, inflatables, a bounce house, and face painting.
Community Development Specialist Hannah Myers with the City of Arcola said the goal of this event is to get city residents and those nearby engaged with the community.
“It’s been rewarding to see families, friends, and visitors spending time downtown, discovering new businesses, and supporting local makers. Events like these aren’t just about a single evening; they’re about creating energy, building connections, and helping our downtown continue to grow and thrive,” Myers said.
This is the first year Arcola has held this event, and it has been a success in the city’s eyes. Approximately 150 people attended the “Sip, Sweep, and Stroll” event in May. Myers feels that the event is helping Arcola grow and develop, particularly the downtown area.
“For me, this represents the momentum we’ve been building in downtown Arcola and a chance to create experiences that encourage people to gather, connect, and take pride in our community,” she said.
