The 95th Moultrie-Douglas County Fair will celebrate its milestone year July 26 through Aug. 2 at the fairgrounds in Arthur, offering a full week of livestock shows, carnival rides, pageants, entertainment, motorsports and family-friendly activities.
The fair officially opens Sunday, July 26, with the Sheep Show at 10 a.m., followed by the Goat Show at 2 p.m. and a community church service at 6 p.m.
Livestock competition continues throughout the week, beginning Monday with the 4-H Poultry Show at 5 p.m. and the 4-H Rabbit, Small Pets and Cat Show at 6 p.m. Monday evening also features the opening of the carnival from 6-10 p.m. with a ticket special, followed by the Little Miss Pageant at 6 p.m. and the Miss and Junior Miss Pageant at 7 p.m.
Tuesday’s schedule includes the 4-H Large Livestock Shows beginning at 5 p.m. for goats, swine and cattle. The carnival returns from 6-10 p.m. for Wristband Night, and the annual Talent Show takes center stage at 7 p.m. in the South Grandstand.
Wednesday has been designated Youth Ag Day. Activities begin with the Touch-a-Truck event from 5:30-8 p.m., followed by the 4-H Foundation Project Auction at 6:30 p.m. Carnival rides continue during another Wristband Night from 6-10 p.m., while the band Sisters and Co. performs at 7 p.m. on the Midway Stage.
Thursday features Carnival Night from 6-10 p.m. during another Wristband promotion. The Home Run Derby begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by Battle Creek at 7 p.m. on the Midway Stage.
Friday evening includes carnival rides from 6-10 p.m. with tickets only, while the ITPA Tractor Pull takes place at 6 p.m. in the South Arena.
Saturday, Aug. 1, is packed with activities beginning with the Cattle Show at 10 a.m. Community Day events include a 5K Run/Walk at 7 a.m., Car Show at 9:30 a.m., Baby Pageant at 10 a.m., Dog Show at 11 a.m., and additional activities throughout the afternoon, including a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. The Mackville Band will perform from 3-5 p.m. on the Midway Stage before country music artist Braxton Keith, with opening act Dalton Davis, takes the South Grandstand stage at 7 p.m. Carnival rides will operate from 6-10 p.m. with tickets only.
The fair concludes Sunday, Aug. 2, with the Swine Show beginning at 10 a.m.
Food vendors will be open from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, offering a variety of fair favorites throughout the week.
The annual fair continues to provide opportunities for area 4-H members and exhibitors to showcase their projects while offering entertainment and activities for all ages. From livestock competitions and pageants to carnival rides, live music, tractor pulls and family events, organizers expect another memorable celebration of one of the area’s longest-running summer traditions.
