Atwood Police Officer Rodmaker Promoted to Sargeant at Board Meeting

Atwood Police Officer Thatcher Rodmaker was promoted to Sargeant at the regular meeting of the Atwood Village Board on Monday, May 11. Atwood Police Chief Joe Duncan presented Rodmaker with the certificate and talked about his accomplishments since he has been in Atwood.

President Fleming announced the America 250 essay, coloring and Google Slide Deck contests have been completed. Fleming asked Diane Eagan, representing the Atwood Chamber; Erin Beck, representing the Village Board; and Amanda Barbee, representing the Atwood Women’s Club, to judge the coloring contest. The school judged the essay contest and the Google Slide Deck contest.

The steel poles for the Over the Street banner were powder coated and ready to be installed. The location of the banner was moved from the corner of Orchard and Main, to a location in the middle of the business district between Katie Patient’s business and the new church, formerly The Emporium. The banner will be mounted on the poles soon.

Unaudited results of the 25-26 Fiscal Year are as follows:
•Year started with $1,616.695 in the bank and ended with $1,777.015 (plus $160,321)
•General Fund Expenses were 39% under budget
•Water/Sewer Expenses were 28% under budget
•Police Expenses were 3% under budget
•Total of all funds: 42% under budget

Later in the meeting the board voted to approve the Fiscal Year 26-27 Budget and Appropriation Ordinance 26-O-7.

In other business before the board:
1. Board approved loan disbursement 15 for IEPA Loan L17-3544 in the amount of $151,931
2. Board approved appointment of duties for FY 26-27
3. Approved proclamation on behalf of Stephen A. Douglas Chapter of NSDAR.
4. Approved a donation of $3,000 to the Atwood Chamber of Commerce. This money is used for entertainment and other miscellaneous expenses for the Apple Dumpling Festival
5. The Villages 3-Year Plan was approved
6. The sidewalk in front of the Library Annex will be installed to meet ADA requirements.
7. A total of 5 dumpsters were used for Clean-Up Day

Expenses were approved in the amount of $35,064.91
