Mt. Zion’s Blue Ribbon Celebration Set for July 3

The Village of Mt. Zion and the Mt. Zion Township are inviting residents and visitors to kick off their Independence Day weekend at the annual Blue Ribbon Celebration on Friday, July 3, at Fletcher Park in Mt. Zion.

The family-friendly event will be held at 323 Fletcher Park Blvd. and is free to attend. Gates open at 5 p.m., with live music beginning at 6:15 p.m. and continuing until 9:15 p.m.

This year’s entertainment will feature country artist Jaxon Wayne, accompanied by Jake Garner, providing an evening of live music before the community gathers for one of the area’s premier fireworks displays.

Fireworks are scheduled to begin at sunset and will serve as the grand finale to the evening’s festivities.

A variety of concession items will be available for purchase throughout the event. The celebration is an alcohol-free event and organizers remind attendees that coolers will not be permitted.

The Blue Ribbon Celebration is made possible through the support of numerous local businesses, organizations and community partners. Sponsors include Top Quality Roofing Company, First National Bank of Decatur, Mike Wilhoit Accounting, HD2 Roofing Co., Hickory Point Bank, Kevin Fritzsche, Brinkoetter Realtors, Rydyna Graphics, Knights of Columbus Council 1258, Altorfer CAT, MSA, Cromwell Media, Land of Lincoln Credit Union and Central Illinois Multimedia Group.

Organizers encourage everyone to bring lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of music, community fellowship and patriotic celebration as Mt. Zion honors Independence Day.
