Juanita “June” Lingafelter

Juanita “June” Lingafelter, 87, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025, passed away in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

June was born June 2, 1938, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Hugo and Ethel (Weaver) Newlin. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. June was a member of the Women’s Bowling Association and enjoyed bowling and softball. She married Melvin Allen Lingafelter December 3, 1955. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2024.

June is survived by her daughters: Sherryl (Roger) Young of Maroa, IL, Kim Weddle and Janet (Gene) Vincent of Decatur, IL; son: Wayne (Debbie) Lingafelter of Decatur, IL; sister: Janice (Darrell) Timmons of Moweaqua, IL; brother: John (Judy) Newlin of Bradenton, FL; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and one on the way; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Mark Wayne Lingafelter, daughter: Patricia Marie Lingafelter, and her granddaughter: Nicole Danielle Peyton.

Services to celebrate June’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Calvert and Wikoff Funeral Home in Mt. Zion. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Kerns Cemetery in Newton, IL. Memorials in June’s honor may be directed to the Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
