Helen Binion

HELEN MAE BINION, 94, of Arthur, IL passed away at 2:05 A.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Haven of Arcola.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 20, 2026, in the Arthur Cemetery.  Rev. John Stewart will officiate. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.  

Helen was born on April 8, 1932, in Barren County, KY.  She was a daughter of George Willis and Ruby Mae (Jefferies) London, she married Robert E. Binion on May 31, 1948, in Glasgow, KY. He passed away on August 7, 2016.

She is survived by one son, David (Sharon) Binion, a daughter-in-law, Theresa Binion all of Arthur, IL; six grandchildren, Audra Deitz of Virginia, Libby (Nick) Hostetler of Chatham, IL, Tyler (Christina) Binion of California, Darin (Rebecca) Binion, Shawn (Jackie) Binion all of Glenwood Springs, CO, and Nick (Marissa) Binion of Arthur, IL; two step-grandchildren, Chase (Lindsay) Coleman of Monticello, IL, and Nick Coleman of Charleston, IL; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Carlos Wayne London of Decatur, IL, one sister, Judy Coomer of Cave City, KY, and a very good friend Grace Hutchcraft from Arthur, IL

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, one son Dennis Binion, five sisters, Virginia Emory, Frances Morrison, Kathleen Merdith, Joyce Abston, and Jeanette Crume, and five brothers, Ralph London, Wendell London, Sammy London, Donald Ray London and Charles Robert Emory.

Helen was raised in Barren County, KY. She met and married the “Love of Her Life” Robert Binion at the age of 16 and the couple moved to Arthur, IL in June of 1948.  

Helen worked at Progress Industries, Casket Division in Arthur, IL and later at Dicks Pharmacy for over 25 years, a position she thoroughly enjoyed. She met many people while working at the pharmacy and made some really good friends.

Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arthur, IL.

Helen enjoyed crossword puzzles and word search. She always kept her home spotless, and she was a great cook. Helen was known for making great Chocolate Pies, or any pie for that matter, but Chocolate seemed to be everyone’s favorite. Her favorite thing to do was simply spend time with her family.
