Billy Romine
Billy D. Romine of Villa Grove, Illinois, was born on July 29, 1937, in Ficklin, Illinois, and peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Tuscola, Illinois.
Billy spent much of his early life in Garett, Illinois, and attended Atwood Schools. On September 25, 1957, he married Bonnie Day. Following a dedicated career at Trunkline Gas Company, Billy continued to share his skills as a mechanic after retirement.
Billy is survived by his children, Terry Romine of Villa Grove and Brenda Zimmerman (Bob) of Monticello, Illinois. He was a proud grandfather to Michele Clouse (Mike) of Champaign, Matthew Zimmerman and Robert Zimmerman (Jayne) of Chicago, and Morgan Stewart (AJ) of Columbia, Illinois. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Bonnie; his parents, Clarence and Ruth (Moore) Romine; sister Martha Clark and brother-in-law Earl Clark; brother Doug Romine and sister-in-law Kay Romine; daughter-in-law Juanita Romine; and grandson Ryan Riddell.
Billy cherished sharing his love of the outdoors with family and friends through cookouts, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He was an active member of several sportsman’s clubs, embodying a spirit of camaraderie and appreciation for nature.
In honor of Billy’s memory, donations may be made to charities dear to his heart, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and Special Olympics.
Private family graveside services were held at the Cartwright Cemetery, rural Tuscola, IL with Mr. Danny Powell officiating.
