GEORGETOWN – Scoring 40 runs in three games, while holding its opponents to 10 the Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond baseball team has won three straight, improving to 13-6 overall. The Knights topped Georgetown-Ridge Farm 11-3 in a non-conference game last Saturday.
Will Hilligoss was 4-for-4 with two doubles and two triples as well as four runs batted in as the Knights picked up a Lincoln Prairie Conference game over Heritage 19-4 last Thursday. The Knights are 4-1 in the conference, good for third place.
ALAH scored five runs in the first inning en route to a 10-3 non-conference victory over Decatur St. Teresa April 21 as Jansen Burnett allowed just two hits in six innings and did not have a walk, while striking out five. The Knights lost to Okaw Valley 6-2 April 20.
ALAH at Georgetown-Ridge Farm, Saturday
Both teams scored two in the first inning. ALAH took a 6-2 lead with a four-run fourth and a four run fifth made it 10-2.
In the fifth for the Knights Kody Burdick singled, Lucas Butcher was hit by a pitch and Donovan Vanasudoll singled as Burdick scored. With two outs the inning was kept alive when Will Hilligoss reached on an error. The final run scored on a double by Max Boddy.
ALAH had five doubles in the game and everyone had at least one hit. John Williams, Marcus Otto, Burnett and Vanaudoll had two hits each.
ALAH at Okaw Valley, April 21
Max Boddy hit a triple in the first inning with two outs, scoring Marcus Otto, who singled in the first inning for a 1-0 lead.
However, Okaw Valley took the lead for good with a two-run first. The Timberwolves, 5-10 overall, but 3-1 in the conference added two more in the third and sixth innings, while holding ALAH scoreless. The Knights scored one in the seventh for the final margin of four.
Okaw Valley’s Wyatt Bell was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in. His double was in the first, scoring Tucker Montgomery and Wyatt Hilderbrandt.
Boddy had a triple and was 2-for-3 with an RBI for ALAH.
