Community members are invited to shop, donate and support local veterans during the Veterans Garage Sale, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7-8, at the Arcola Center. The sale will be open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days.
Sponsored by VFW Post 7862, the American Legion, and VFW Auxiliary, the event raises funds to support local veterans programs and outreach efforts throughout the community.
Shoppers will find a wide selection of gently used items, including clothing, home décor, dishes, small furniture, children’s items, kitchenware, tools, men’s items, and more.
Community members wishing to donate items may do so during the drop-off period from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Arcola Center. Donated items should be clean, gently used, and priced before arrival. Organizers reserve the right to refuse damaged, unclean, or oversized items, or donations received after capacity has been reached.
A special raffle will also be held featuring an 11×14 inch framed drawing by Jeff Edwards, with the subject selected by the winning ticket holder. Raffle tickets may be purchased in advance from Auxiliary members or during the sale. The winning ticket will be drawn at 5 p.m. on Aug. 8, and the winner does not need to be present.
Proceeds from the event will help fund programs and services that benefit local veterans, making the sale an opportunity for the community to find bargains while supporting those who have served.
