The Camargo Township District Library in Villa Grove welcomes Villa Grove alumna, retired professor, and author Sandra Burgett Schackel to the library on Friday, Aug. 7, at 1 p.m.
Sandra will share the inspiring story behind her recently published memoir, Apron to Cap & Gown: Teen Bride to Scholar | 1950s–1970s, which chronicles her journey from teenage bride to accomplished scholar.
The Villa Grove Alumni Association has donated two copies of her book to the library collection.
“Join us for an engaging afternoon as we celebrate one of Villa Grove’s own and hear her extraordinary story,” said Jackie Wells, director.
